Haven't tried this yet, but does it guarantee that you get a patch when you tear it off, so you will always have a patch to put back on?

Will I not disguise as a bandit if I wear a bandit outfit but tear off the patch, for instance?
if you have bandit outfit with the patch attached, you can disguise as bandit, if you tear the patch, you cant disguise as bandit and they will recognize you

If you're a loner and you wear a mercenary suit then yeah. You can tear off the patch and everyone will recognize you as a loner but you will be recognized as a mercenary if the patch is still attached.

how to change their stripes? pressing the hot key does not happen
Could you please update this mod so the hotkey is not called "hotkey", it is very confusing when you are just going through MCM hotkeys and you see a hotkey called "Hotkey" and you don't know what the hotkey relates to.
Find hotkey string in configs/text/eng files and change it to whatever you want
