The game
Alvara is an RPG-style video game with turn-based combat. Narration is at the heart of the story. You play as Zoltae, a warrior, and must travel the lands of Occilargia, one of Alvara's 5 continents, to understand how the world's destiny is intimately linked to your own.
The Story
You are Zoltae, a warrior from the small village of Bazzya. This village is isolated in a tiny glacial valley and has lived in virtual autarky for decades. However, once a month, a caravan from the nearest large town, Mouille-Pieds, brings products essential to the village's survival. When the adventure begins, the village has not been supplied for 3 months. In the past, the caravan has missed one or, exceptionally, two rounds, but never three. The village no longer has enough to meet the needs of its inhabitants. A mass exodus has already taken place and, if nothing is done, the village is doomed to disappear. That's why Zhân, the village headman, has entrusted you with the task of tracking down this caravan, after having taken care of the most urgent problem: feeding the few remaining inhabitants.

Gameplay
Alvara alternates between two distinct phases of play:
- The first is an exploration phase. You roam the levelled world (in maps) in a 3D environment. You can interact with the environment, talking to people you meet, recruiting them, trading, reading books and discovering the world of Alvara.
- The second is a combat phase. When your danger gauge is full, turn-by-turn combat is triggered. You take it in turns to enter the actions your team members will perform. These battles not only provide you with experience, which increases your stats, but also grant you skill points, allowing you to customize your game experience by distributing them as you wish.
The universe
As you'll discover, Alvara is a vast world with a long history. In Alvara, history, myths and legends are interwoven. Here, however, is the founding myth recognized by all Alvarian peoples.
Once upon a time, the gods walked on Alvara, the land they had created. These original deities are known to Alvarians as the First Ones. Numerous in number, some worked for the good and beautification of Alvara, while others were bent on destruction. Among these gods, two were at the origin of everything: Ostra, deity of goodness, fertility and abundance, and Septra, her twin sister, goddess of destruction, chaos and scarcity.
One day, the Gods decided to leave Alvara, leaving it in the hands of the creatures they had spread. Among these creatures, the Ancients developed the closest resemblance to the First Ones. They monopolized Alvarian lands and founded towns and villages. But the memory of the First Ones and their teachings gradually faded. The Ancients lost the blessing of the First Ones and became creatures gifted with reason but unable to remember the divine spark... they became humans.

We are two indie game developers with a unique perspective. One of us comes from a background outside the gaming industry, while the other has extensive experience within it. This dynamic blend of expertise has allowed us to craft a gaming world that stands out for its cohesion and rich narrative. Unlike many large studios that struggle to maintain consistency, our world is deeply interconnected, with a compelling storyline that drives the player's journey. Additionally, the developer with a non-gaming background brings a fresh perspective that enhances the overall polish and refinement of the game.
