Super simple and lightweight implementation of corpse fauna, bringing more of an immersive atmosphere to dead bodies.
Introduces an immersive and QoL touch to corpses and dead bodies, giving them a realistic approach to decomposition and fauna.
Thank you to xcvb for expanding and revising the script for the functionality.
In regards to performance and stability, I've tested this with a few bodies, as well as over 20 bodies in one spot and saw near to no performance impact.
The below is a picture in Dark Valley, an already intensive FPS spot, where I averaged around 50 FPS with the entire bandit camp wiped out. The before result was the same, looking in this same direction. Now, the effect on FPS might change if you have blood pools installed as well, but I also once again saw barely any impact on performance.
Requirements
You need the following add-ons in order for things to function properly and as intended:
Recommendations
- Dismemberment (Great for really emphasizing that a corpse is gathering fauna and decaying)
- Blood Pools (Creates pools of blood that can also leave footprints for anything that walks on them)
Installation
Install via MO2. Place anywhere in the load order and launch your game. Save to install mid-game, however existing corpses will not receive the effect.
Should be completely compatible with everything.

I am worried about the performance impact after wiping a base, for instance freedom base in AW. Did you do some tests? I know the blood pools addon has an impact.
I had about 5-6 corpses in Dark Valley and saw no negligble performance drop. I will kill much more and test out the performance.
Ok. Yes 5-6 isn’t much. I’m thinking about like 30 or 40 bodies.
Tested in Dark Valley at the bandit camp and there's no drop in performance. Had well over 20 bodies with all of them playing the effect and FPS dropped by maybe 1 or 2.
I didn't know the blood pools had an effect on performance. I don't really know what causes my game to run sluggish when it does. It's almost like it's random lol. But I'll definitely be lowering the blood pool size and stuff now that I know this lol.

great stuff man. Makes for a gritty atmosphere and as a side effect makes corpses easier to find in bushes or tall grass. I would increase the time for the flies to appear though, as it takes flies a lot longer to apperar irl (just my personal experience)
I planned on making this all configurable via MCM so you can adjust the time they appear yourself.
You sound like you are experienced with old corpses...
Some old mods on Shadow of Chernobyl had addons where the corpse gradually rotted to the state of a skeleton. Will it be added in future?
That's the idea, xcvb has already started to work on visual body decomposition so that it starts get more and more filthy over time.

Great mod man altho i have a issue where i can hear the sound of flies but i cant see any on corpses, im playing this with gamma if it makes a difference and none of the mods conflict with eachother according to MO2.
It's possible GAMMA might've modified the particle effect the mod uses itself. Can you try in a dark area, as the flies themselves are bright white.
Yeah tried it indoors without luck unfortunatley, GAMMA definitely has modified particle effects.
Go ahead and try the newest update, the mod ships with the particle effects on its own now so it should work regardless.

Great mod but i've reduced the volume of the flies in Audacity. Way too loud for me. Love your mods!
Yup, still need to tweak the audio a bit. I think I will reduce the volume so it's not so loud, but a very subtle effect.
I adjusted the volume on my end by -15db and it sound's just right.

Can you see if it's replicable on another save? If so, can you enable the debug mode via the script by changing "local fly_dbg =" from false to true.
Amazing stuff as always man! unfortunately i'm having the same issue as another person where the "bug sprites or particles" don't appear above corpses at all. I just hear the SFX only. I have no conflicts in MO2 either which is strange. I wonder what the issue is. Thoughts?

It's really nice addon, but tbh according to the game lore there are no insects and no birds others that crows in the Zone (and abundance of corpses and propably no flies) causes the amount of crows in the Zone.
Other than that, great addon, top tier. 10/10
What if you add raven to flies? They also don’t mind eating carrion. (with settings options in msm as for flies)
Raven's could be doable, that'd make plenty more sense as well.

updated modded executables 2024.04.07 the error remains and crashes with the same log.
So in mentioning that AI Combat Pack mod, could you try disabling that and seeing if this works without it. Preferably on a new save.
On a new save it works without any changes in the mod list
there's an issue with the fly audio being audible right after death while no flies are around. tested this with about 20-40 stalkers, it does sound amazing but jarring with no flies.
I can't replicate the issue unfortunately. Are you installing this on a modpack like EFP or GAMMA?
I am on a GAMMA install, yes.
Could you try on a non-GAMMA setup and see if that has any difference? You can just create a separate profile in MO2 with all of the mods disabled except for the required ones listed.
yup just ran some tests, with dismemberments, blood pools, corpse fauna and mcm enabled with demonized exes downloaded. works perfectly fine. dont know what part of gamma could be messing with it
That's unfortunate. Yeah I am not sure myself, and without testing a install of GAMMA myself and looking I don't know really. Unfortunately that'll make GAMMA incompatible with the mod until someone finds out what it is.
