The stand-alone mod S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly aims to be the most stable and customizable experience for fans of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. It's powered by the Monolith 64-bit engine, a custom fork of the X-Ray engine.

I loved Misery 2.2 and the obvious next option was Dead Air, which in theory is exactly what I wanted: Misery 2.2, but in a big open world. I love the gunfights, but what really bugs me is the horrendous stability, broken quest, and stupid (but shockingly accurate) AI. How does this mod compare in terms of bullet sponges (gun damage), ammo availability, economy balance, generation of generic quests, etc...?

I’d say this feels a lot less tedious and more fast paced. I played it for a good week or so, it was great until I had to update and start a new game and realised just how much of a slog the game is to get into. Constant savescumming, if I got hit by one bullet I’d just reload. With this I feel it’s more balanced to where if anything happens like that I live with the consiquences and carry on. Some mutants are tougher but so are you so the time to kill goes up slightly, which is actually more fun. It seems to have more quests than dead air but some are the same as they’re based on the mlr add on.

stability wise this is literally the most stable stalker experience of be ever had, and the most beautiful. I play with the back to the roots patch as I don’t think bright colours look to great in the x ray engine and it’s actually one of the nicest looking games I’ve played now considering it’s age. If you want misery looks go with the back to the roots add on and you definitely won’t regret it.

Dead air is too empty of a game right now, i personally prefer a more difficult experience and anomaly to me is way too easy, also i like dead air's inventory/crafting much more, that said, dead air is an empty game and has hardly any missions, especially if you expect repeatables. A mix of both would be amazing but for now anomaly is miles better and much more polished.

Dead Air is just trying too much. It have lots of fancy features but it lack actual gameplay and fun. It also do the same idiotic thing as Misery where only hardness in it is fake boost in damages and stats of items/pricing. + In my opinion its just ugly...

Game should be hard by gameplay it self, by damage system and game environment, not by just making player weak, changing NPCs to sponges and making everything expensive as hell.

Anomaly is more balanced compared to Dead Air, it still have some annoying things in it, AI sometimes behave weirdly and some pricing/weight is off, and in some occasions is to easy, but lets not forget that its a game, realizm or not, it should give us fun, and that what Anomaly give: balance between hardness and fun.

In Dead Air, your character (can only play as Stalker faction) apparently has asthma and has spent more time on the couch than exercising.

That said, they are working on or have some really awesome features, especially concerning AI reaction improvements and crafting.

In my opinion this is THE Stalker mod. Fun, balanced, stable.

As for Dead Air, it is visually impressive and it has some cool features such as glowsticks and visor swipe. But I'm sure that most of that will be available in this mod as well sooner or later. :)

There is now an addon for Dead Air where you can choose your starting faction.
