Burer nerf for Gunslinger standalone. (Not for vanilla CoP or Misery)
Wimpy Burer addon for Call of Pripyat Gunslinger mod. Not compatible with vanilla or any other mods.
Note: After the Gunslinger 2022 February update, the burer is no longer obscenely broken and this addon is no longer mandatory. However, there are still some QoL nerfs in here, so, by all means, install it and see if you enjoy the changes.
Install it under gamedata folder for Gunslinger. If no gamedata folder exists there, make your own.
Changes
- Compatibility fixes for 2022 September Gunslinger.
- Compatibility fixes for 2022 February Gunslinger.
- Compatibility fixes for 2021 June Gunslinger.
- Burer's gravi attack was too fast and too deadly. It was impossible to dodge in most situations.
- Gravi attack shockwave speed nerfed significantly.
- Gravi attack damage nerfed slightly, so it's not a one-shot kill.
- Burer no longer uses gravi attack at point-blank range.
- Extended gravi attack range to compensate. (It's too easy to dodge at long range, tho.)
- Burer does not actualy have a shitload of health, but its damage resistance was very high.
- Nerfed burer damage resistance very slightly. Two barrels of buckshot in the face should be enough to kill one. One barrel should not.
- Telekinesis attack is an aimbot / one-shot kill in most cases even behind cover. I failed to lower the speed or damage of thrown objects.
- Settled with deeply nerfing the manipulated object count from 4 to 1. This should give a stalker some non-zero chance of survival.
- Disarm attack (which sapped stamina) was immensely powerful.
- Heavily nerfed stamina damage from the disarm attack, so a stalker should be able to survive the first attack without losing their weapon.
- Burer does not actually have infinite shield, but the shield never goes into cooldown. He will keep it for a very long time if he feels threatened and also put it up again immediately after lowering it for a fast attack. How long he will keep the shield up is related to how much threatened he feels by his attacker and this is related to the weapon held by the stalker. You will notice he is more reluctant to lower his shield when you are holding something strong like a gauss rifle. If you are holding a crappy PM, he will get cockier and will drop his shield more frequently to use his attacks.
- Slightly increased burer's risk threshold. He should now cower behind his shield for a shorter duration.
- Depriving burer from a short range gravi attack left him kinda helpless, so,
- Somewhat buffed burer's standing claw attack to keep his lawyer's mouth shut.
- He also played mind games, shaking the view and splashing blood on screen when he wasn't even dealing damage, so,
- Disabled some of his cosmetic viewport animations which didn't make sense.
- Three burers in the Laboratory X-8 were practically invincible as long as the player was outside their room.
- Removed the specific scripting that heals them on hit.
- Three burers in the same area means multiple flying objects triangulating your exact coordinates for instakill fun.
- Took away telekinesis ability from one of the Lab X-8 burers. He was dropped on his head as a baby.
- Another X-8 burer can now only handle smaller objects. He has been neglecting his mental gymnastics.
- The remaining X-8 burer now has significantly softer skin and lower armor. No reason, just out of spite.

Misery is notorious for pumping up mutants, but it still cant even hold a candle to Gunslinger's burers.

I suspect the Gunslinger team would not agree with my vision of burers. If they did, they would have fixed them by now instead of sharing videos where they kill burers with Groza-attached grenade launchers.
Edit: Half a year later, they did fix the burers. I stand corrected.

Update: The mod is no longer strictly necessary, but I uploaded a fixed version anyway. You can reinstall it if you want the "classic wimpy burer experience" :)
gunslinger didnt have a gamedata folder so i just extracted gamedata folder i downloaded from here to my Cop gunslinger folder
im not sure if its working or not

"the burer is no longer obscenely broken." Tbh on hard difficulty it is still near impossible to defeat it. Does anyone maybe know what exactly was changed on the burer AI in the new update? I'm not really noticing any differences personally

Game crashes whenever I try this mod, any suggestions? I've made a gamedata folder and followed all instructions. Not sure what to do.
You either have a conflicting addon, outdated GS, or outdated WB. Other than that, no idea.
A must have mod, thank you. Even with the rocket launcher, I couldn´t kill these ********, what were they thinking?
I'd guess they were focusing on the awesome weaponry, but the balance, not so much.

Hey, Ishmaeel, Just wanted to let you know there's a new gunslinger update (19.09.2022). It would be great if you also update this mod since the game won't open with the current version. I can't beat any burer without this mod lol, even in the new update that claim to have fix the burer problem

I have latest version of Gunslinger and after installing this mod I got an error at startup called "Exception EExternalException in module xrCore.dll at 0001E12E.
I can't even complete that mission near train tunnel to kill that two Brurers.
Please update this mod for the latest version. Meanwhile I will pause playing GUNSLINGER and play other games. Hope you will update and make this mod compatible. Thank you for your effort for creating amazing mods.

Thanks a lot!!!. I finally killed those two bruers. They kinda still have infinite shield but they don't use their shield when I am out of their sight and I quickly peek out and shoot them. I repeat this and finally killed them. Also their item throwing and hitting the player decreased a lot. Finally I am continuing the game. Thanks a lot again for this helpful mod. God bless you.
(near)Infinite shield is still frustrating to fight against, since they just keep it up with no repercussions, especially when they're still able to throw objects.
Would be nice for the shield to be nerfed a bit more to balance out the gameplay
Can't be done, or at least, I couldn't figure out how.
You just gotta run up next to him, aim a shotgun point blank at his face and wait for him to take a swipe.

Thanks a lot for this mod! Could you tell how to edit the parameters of other monsters? I like the animations and weapons of the mod, but not the difficulty in killing other mutants (I'm an even worse player than you). It's annoying that playing on easy difficulty I have to take three point-blank shots to kill a snork, or three grenades for the controller. Honestly, it's just annoying when I die from every sneeze, but 60 bullets in the body of a mutant, he feels great and is ready to rip my *** off.
All I can "tell" you is that it took a great deal of trial and error to tweak WB parameters. Be warned that some values will behave in unpredictable ways and some values will have no effect. You'll just have to experiment.

I just killed one Burer, it was difficult but surely more easy this time, the bastard hid much less behind its shield and run away more, I had more chances to shoot him
Estuve como 1 hora luchando con los 2 burner en la misión de cazar mutantes, incluso me puse a ver guiás de como matarlos, fui con rpg, lanza granadas y granadas normales también intente ir a melee. y durante 1 hora de morir y cargar partida apenas pude abatir a 1. parecía que tenían escudo infinito y sobrevivían a un disparo de rpg a quemarropa y con la táctica de cubrirse y esperar a que bajaran el escudo no funcionaba, casi siempre me quitaban el arma aunque pudiera ponerme a cubierto, y ni hablar de cuando te roban el rpg y se dispara cerca tuyo ademas de todo el dinero que me gaste reparando las armaduras y las armas...
Después de poner el mod cargue una partida que tenia y solo basto con 1 rpg para abatirlo.

It's not going to break your saves. You can install or uninstall the addon mid-playthrough.
I think the mod still works, I'm using the latest Gunslinger mod with updates.
And this bastard seems to only be able to telekinesis one object at a time.
He also lowers his shield more often when you're not aiming or using a double barrel or something...and with all this, and I'm not saying I'm a veteran Stalker player, it was still hard as hell and takes a few times with a basic shotgun.
But at least now I know it's a game of patient and that I have a chance. This was in Eastern Tunnel, not even lab yet and took my time killing one at a time.
I don't know how Gunslinger think this is doable without having 1 hit kill weapons and quite frankly juggling with just this nerf is already very tedious as it's not about skill per say since it just as small window to shoot at them. With vanilla Gunslinger, I'm just going to put the flag down and say that it's close to impossible with basic gear. I get the point of making use out of more powerful weapons but it's at a point in the game where you don't have access to anything more powerful than slug round so...still can't see the justification for it.
You simply have not grasped how the Burer works in Gunslinger.
The Burer will ALWAYS have the shield up when you have a weapon in your hands, even if you hide behind a corner, the Burer already knows you are there, and if you still have the weapon in your hands, it will keep the shield up.
Solution? don't have any weapon in your hands, he won't raise the shield, unless you stand in front of him, he's not stupid.
Strategy 1:
How do you attack the Burer if you don't have a weapon in your hands? the strategy is simple, without any weapon equipped in your hands, and at a prudent distance and far away, you lean out of the corner and quickly throw 2 or 3 hand grenades, why hand grenades? because they don't need to be equipped, you can configure a button on your keyboard to throw grenades directly, without having them equipped.
Repeat the process until you kill him, with 4 or 5 grenades I kill one, for 2 Burers, it takes a few grenades, 15 or 20, spam the grenades.

Strategy 2
The Burer has a weak point, when he uses his telekinesis attack (or whatever it's called), not when he throws objects at you, those thrown objects are lethal, it's the attack that makes your character "stagger", just when he uses that attack "lower the shield", if you are able to hit him with your weapon while staggering, you will hit him 100%.
This strategy does not require to have the weapon saved, you can have the weapon in your hands, but you run the risk of him taking your weapon instead of making you stagger, however, it is worth that risk, of course, if he wants to throw objects at you, move and cover yourself, but "stay close" to the Burer, a prudent but close distance.
I had problems with the Burers too, I could spend 1 hour or more to kill the 2 in the hunting mission, now it's only a matter of 5 minutes for one, 10 or less for 2, it's still a lot, but it's better than 1 hour xD
Yes, there are cheese strategies to handle Gunslinger's undisputably broken burers. Thank you for sharing yours. Please do let me know how they work for you when you get to Lab X-8.
