Since the founding of the group many debates have been had. Most debates have been constructive and peaceful between the people involved but a few have spiraled out of hand and descended into flame wars. Please let it be noted that this sort of behavior in the future will not be acceptable for both users and moderators. Users caught being offensive and insulting their opponents will be warned about their behavior and subsequent warnings may result in temporary bans and finally a permanent ban unless decided otherwise. The same also applies to any moderator caught breaking the code who will also end up having their status as moderator removed if they continue to break the code. Now let us go back over the Code of Conduct: (please note that the endnotes on each code is the reference point)
- No profanity (CC.1)
- No trolling (CC.2)
- No remarks or pictures with the intention of being offensive (CC.3)
- Personal debates, or specific ones, MUST take place in the forums. (CC.4)
- Respect each other's views.(CC.5)
- Be respectful.(CC.6)
- Be constructive.(CC.7)
- No misquoting. (Re-wording a user's quotes) (CC.8)
- No biased sources to present as evidence for argument(CC.9)
Just because someone disagrees with your view doesn't give you the right to insult. Simply explain why you think they are wrong and use evidence (if available) to prove your point. TheTriangulum (Cognosco)- as admin and group founder - has the right to use whatever admin powers necessary against any breaking these rules.
Remember the Code of Conduct at all times when within this group. Happy debating!
From now on this group will be managed differently. I myself have contributed to the fuel in these flame-wars but that is the past now and I apologize for that. From now on any user (mods and regular members) will be warned for breaking the CoC. Naturally this applies to me as well as to anyone else.
TheTriangulum is The Overseer of this group and the admin and thus he has the rights to manage the mods as he pleases as well as get final say on what happens to those who break the CoC.
From now on everyone is expected to be respectful of one another and avoid using curse words while keeping debates formal, civilized and constructive. Remember you don't have to debate for the sake of debating.
deal, and i will stay away from the religious arguements- as to avoid fighting.
The rules are great....but that's a really gross-looking brain in the picture!
I get a feeling of tension from the mods, perhaps a neutral party should be made a mod to keep things balanced. (There may already be i havnt checked)
These rules are a good way of keeping the peace!
That's why I asked TheTriangulum to make xxt65xx a moderator. He seems rather sensible.
Nice one. Maybe it will hold even a week before another Great flame war...
Cynical lol.
Also there is no need for anymore mods. There are already 6 (i think) moderators in this group...
Everyone wants to be moderator. It's good to be able to troll on locked threads xD
moderating is fun, for everyone!
On suggestion of DetoNato, misquoting a user is now breaking the rules.
R.I.P The Debating Society Sep 2012 - May 2015.
Umm...
I have received the new rules for the debating society:
-Saying "God" will result in a ban.
-Arguing about anything relating to religion will result in a ban.
-Anyone with a religious-related username gets banned instantly.
-Thou shalt not question atheism because we atheists cannot take criticism of anything that attacks our worldview.
-This group is a debate group but like the free debate group, we shall only debate trending subjects relating to feminism, video games and the middle east.
-Finally, remember, mocking religion is fine but atheism is a no-go and pls remember this for the whole of moddb.
Oh deer.
