Hi! I created a simple mod that adds a wall jump mechanic to Half-Life goldsource engine. This mod is also accompanied by a map that utilizes this mechanic. You can use the dlls in your own mods if you will or even try the existing HL games and mods with it. I was inspired primarily by games like Mirror's Edge and Titanfall. The map is one long obstacle course with a couple of fights and a boss fight in the end and is just a simple demonstartion of gameplay mechanic. It is very simple in terms of mapping, because it is pretty much my first experience at HL mapping. The picture on the Moddb page and in the main menu was generated by Microsoft Designer AI and the music is by Seth_Makes_Sounds on Freesound.org

Holy crap, that was incredibly cool! Are you planning to add more maps in the future? To be honest I don't think there are many custom maps that could be as fun as yours with this mechanic. Keep it up!
cool mod
Really fun project. Hope it would be upgraded, so became somithing like HL Mobility. Good job
This is an incredibly cool idea executed in a way that left me feeling consistently frustrated.
The way it works is that when you press jump against a wall, you'll spring off in the direction you're facing. This means that in order to do a proper series of wall jumps, you need to make sure you're looking AWAY from the wall that you're jumping from.
This results in you often not being sure that you're actually against the wall you need to jump off, or being unable to keep track of the multiple ways you need to be facing during longer series of jumps.
Because of these (no doubt hard-coded into the engine) limitations, this started off being AMAZING but very quickly started getting frustrating, and the more complicated the jumping sequences, the more maddening things became. I'm glad this was only one map long, because had there been more, I'd have probably started throwing things against the wall!
As I said up front, it's a neat idea, and as an added move in another mod (or just in the original game!), this would work wonders. But when it comes to complicated platforming, I think the limitations of the mechanic will wear out people's patience pretty quickly.
I'm sorry you didn't like it. The mod is by design on a more hardcore side, so i didn't thought of implementing some quality-of-life features. I'm planning to extend this mod sometime in the future and will try to add some visual or audio cues so a player can confirm the wall is touched.
I think you are just forgetting to air-strafe, look up a tutorial, it makes your life 100% easier with platforming mods like this one, in this case it helps to keep speed after every bounce.
Oh, trust me, I'm trying to air-strafe, but combined with everything else it's hard to keep track of all these mechanics.
wow this looks sick i want to play dat!!!
