1 - A few good tips...

Getting good cards:

In Forbidden Memories, there is an integrated pattern evaluation of the way you play.

For instance, if you play mostly on attack, you will get strong attack cards... if you play mostly on defence, you will get strong defence cards, so on so forth.

It's allways good to have a balanced deck, so play the same opponent in many different ways.

Here's the best part... when you undestand the way the game works, and the way the AI evaluates the way you play, then you'll understand how to get good cards.

When I realised this, I got close to 100 Meteor Black Dragons out of the low meadow mage, almost one right after the other.

Plus a lot more good cards, like the Ultimate Moth, Gate Guardian, etc...

Follow the steps to get very good cards, most of the time.

1)

Allways try to win the duel as quickly as possible, the game has a hidden timer which will evaluate how long it takes you to win the duel.

2)

Allways give the final blow with a card that has the same amount of attack as the number of points the opponent has left.

So if the opponent has 1600 LP left, attack with a monster that has 1600 atk.

What I did is have monsters that would follow an attack pattern to ensure I allways finished with the same amount of attack.

My cards were... 3 Red Eyes Black Dragons, and a lot of fusions to make Twin Headed Thunder Dragon.

That way I allways had the adecuate card to give the final blow to the right amount of HP.

8000-2800=5200-2800=2400-2400=0.

I kept those cards in my deck untill the very last moment, when I acumulated a lot of good cards, and exchanged then.

There was no point in placing the really strong cards in my deck at that point, as I didn't need them, and didn't find necessary.

3)

Use as little cards as possible.

The less cards you use, the more your final score for that Duel, and therefore a better chance to get good cards.

2 - Learn your cards well:

If you think having the Ultimate Dragon is the only way to win... then you are wrong!

There are pretty powerfull cards in FM that may escape your attention at first glance, or that you otherwize ignored.

Those are known as Magic Cards.

Magic and Trap cards can be pretty powerfull against the Ultimate Dragon, and even bring you victory.

Offcourse a Magic card alone isn't going to do it, but as a combination will make your deck a force to be reconed with.

Good examples of Powerfull Magic Cards:

Widespread Ruin

Raigeki

Megamorph

Swords of Revealing Light

3 - Learn the opponents deck and Strategy:

Many low level players will just play cards at random, which is the likes of Simon, and the villagers.

However the higher the player level the best their technique, so learn it well.

One of the most powerfull duelists is Bakura, not only because he has the a lot of high Defence cards, but also because he plays a lot of Magic cards.

You will find that if you lose against Bakura, it's because he plays a lot of Trap and Magic cards.

Cards like the Swords of Revealing Light, and Wide spread Ruin.

It would be a good idea for you to start collecting Magic and Trap cards at this point, since the game only gets harder from this point forward.

4 - Walkthrough:

After the intro movie, you will find your-self talking to Simon Muran.

I'm not sure if there is any "Actions have consequences", so just Select "Run Away" once prompt to do so.

Go check your deck if you wish and save the game, if you are satisfied with the deck.

If not, just exit everything and start again.

Do Not settle for less than a Raigeki, and a monster with atleast 1400 Atk or Def.

Once you've done that, go to the Duel Grounds and Teana will talk to you.

At this point, Duel every single Duelist there is to Duel, untill you talk to Teana again.

She will ask you if you are ready now, and exit at this point.

You will go straight to the Plaza, where a festival is taking place.

Next you will see Jono who is losing the Duel against Seto.

After a lot of Talk, and Jono trying to justify his lack of Skills... Seto will challenge you to a Duel, Again "Actions have consequences"... I click Yes, but it's up to you... but is soon called by his runts, and postpone the Duel.

Go to the Shop, build your Deck, and save the game.

At this point you can now Duel in Free Duel if you wish, to get better cards for your deck.

Do not go to the Duel Grounds just yet.

First go to the Pharao's Palace, and Simon will appear.

However this time he will Not send you in... instead he will challenge you to a Duel.

So Duel Simon now to unlock him on Free Duel.

You can get the Meteor Black Dragon out of Simon, with a little presistance and patience.

Save the game again, and go the Duel Grounds.

You should have built a good Deck by now, so Seto shouldn't be too much trouble.

Duel Jono first.

Jono also gives good Cards, like the Red-Eyes Black Dragon and the Meteor Black Dragon.

After you Win, go back to the shop and save the game.

If you played Free Duel enough times, you should have atleast one REBD, and one MBD, plus a few more pretty decend Cards.

Go to the Palace, and Simon will send you in.

Watch the long Movie sequence, and now you will face Heishin.

Seto will find you and demand you give him the Millenium Puzzle.

Again, I'm not sure if there is any "Actions have consequences", so just Select what you wish.

I personally select NO.

NOTE: that even if you have a stronger Deck than Heishin at this point, and keep wining... you still have to lose this specific Duel to proceed in the game.

This is the ONLY Duel you have to lose, wether you like it or not.

Once you have been defeated, You get given the choice to hand over the Millenium Puzzle.

Again, I'm not sure if there is any "Actions have consequences", so just Select what you wish.

I personally select NO.

After this, you will be sent somewhere mysterious... and you will find your-self inside Yugi's mind.

You will wake up to Jono talking to you with his sarcastic humor.

You will now have to participate in the tournament that Seto is holding.

There isn't much to say about the tournament, except for: just keep wining.

Half way through the tournament, Shadi will appear and will help you take a journey into Yugi's mind.

There you will talk to Yugi-Your-self, and explain that you need to gather all the items to unlock the door to the past.

After you win the whole tournament, you will have gathered all the Item Cards, and something strange will happen, which will release you from Yugi's mind and back to the past.

You will awake back in the past in an abandoned shrine.

There is nothing here, so just move on, and go check the town.

Check the Duel Grounds first... Jono will appear and take you to the hidden place.

Save, and Duel Jono and Teana to unlock them.

Next go to the Palace, and a guard will appear and challenge you.

Duel the guard, and after you win, search the place to find a map.

Exit the town and go to the other side of the mountain, where you will find a hidden shrine.

Talk to Shadi, and show him the map.

He will take you to the Hidden Temple.

Check out both carvings on the wall, and Seto will appear and tallk to you in a strange way.

Get out of there and head back into town.

On the way, you will notice that more Shrines have now been unlocked.

Go save the game and build your Deck.

Now Duel the mages in the following order... from the easiest to the hardest.

Mountain

Water

Desert

Jungle

Meadow (Low Meadow Mage Only)

Once you have done this, you should play Free Duel a lot of times, following the techniques mentioned above this walkthrough, and get good cards from the Low Meadow Mage.

After that go to the Duel Grounds again, and Jono will state that Teana is in trouble.

Go rescue her with Jono.

Duel the Maze Guardian and Seto 2.

Watch the movie where seto will talk to you, and more suspiciously than ever trying to convence he's trying to help you, but it's obvious he has a personal agenda.

After you defeated both, return and save.

Now go and finish off the Mages.

You will have to face the low Meadow Mage again, but he should be no trouble now... and then defeat the High Mage.

Watch out for this one, he has pretty good cards, and will be a challenge.

Once you have defeated all mages, Seto will appear and tell you to go to the High Shrine, and here is where you will face the last streak of Duelists.

So prepare your-self for the last marathon.

Now would be a good idea to Duel on Free Duel as much as necessary to get all the good cards possible.

Once you're ready, head up to the High Shrine and Seto will appear again telling you to go ahead through the door.

You will first face the 2 Heishin Guardians.

These guys aren't too hard to beat, but don't under-estimate them.

Next you will face Heishin.

Heishin's Deck hasn't altered much from last time, so he shouldn't be too hard to defeat.

Heishin is also very predictable in what cards and technique he uses.

So No suprises there.

After that, in the Movie, Seto will reveal his true agenda and the plot he was playing... and was using everyone, including Heishing for the purpose of unlocking the hidden power within the tombs.

You must now face Seto one last time, and he's stronger than ever.

After you defeat Seto, another movie will play where Heishin will grab Seto and threathen to hurt him, and you are given another choice in wether to break the items or not.

Here the "Actions have consequences" comes into play again, and I think if you choose to break the items, the last boss will be easier.

But that's for you to find out.

Finally you will get to Duel the last Boss, and this one has two stages.

The Dark Nite and Nitemare.

This guy has all the best cards in the game as you can imagine, and it will require all your skills to beat him.

...and that's it, once you beat Nitemare, the final movie will play, followed by the credits.

Enjoy the breather!
