Hi all,

I wanted to share the little experience I got about the topic mentioned in this post's title. Being a Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) fan since childhood - when I played it with my sister on Playstation 2 with splitscreen - I wanted to play it again, but with all the amazing mods and maps the community has developed so far. Not having two PC's, I figured out how to play it with splitscreen on a single PC (I know that Battlefront Classic Collection is now out, and that it allows splitscreen, but 1. it wasn't out at the time when I had this issue; 2. I hear that there are issues with CC and mods; 3. i just want to share my experience, in the remote case someone comes up with same issues!).

I soon encountered this method created by a member at swbfgamers.com; I don't remember why, but I wasn't able to make it run.

So I started searching and found this interesting post on Reddit. Followed it, but I ran in some issues:

  • On Windows10 (BFII not Steam edition) I was getting a Missing steam_api(64).dll error running the game with Nucleus: the game started anyway... only to crash when the second instance opened. To fix it, I simply downloaded the library (easy to find on the internet) and pasted in the BattelfrontII/GameData folder. Note that you should rename the library, adding the parenthesis, in case the library has another name - e.g. mine had steam_api64.dll instead of steam_api(64).dll
  • There also was a Goldberg error: problem is Nucleus' script only works for BFII Steam version; so I simply put the Spy executable (you have to be a swbfgamers.com member to download it), and it did it
  • I remember I encountered an issue with the second window's opening and positioning: I opened Nucleus' BFII script (you can open it from Nucleus itself) and delayed by some seconds the opening, and it fixed it

I am even able to play with joystick's (Xbox as well as PS ones; usb-adapters do exist for the latters).

Note: if you want to play on the same side, you have to choose the Sides→Player select option (and not the Random one) while setting a game.
