Did you use Narf's coifs to do this or is this all from scratch?

I began over a year ago with the intention of simply expanding Narf's available range. Over a year, this has evolved into a desire to provide an alternative(?) to Narf's excellent work. So everything you see began at least in conception with a Narf mesh.

So this mail coif, for eg, began with Narf's coif, but then evolved. Turned out the chinstrap Narf used for the coifs had a higher poly-count than most helmets themselves, heh-heh. So I replaced that with a simpler design, and applied my own mail riveted mail texture.

And then we both picked out newer kettle models, that we made using Narf's models as references, for the scale, angle, position, rigging. Then Noooxy textured them. Hence both our armorers' marks on the kettles.

So we've made all our meshes from scratch, but using Narf's as a base. This isn't a paint-and-go job, for sure.

Lovely, absolutely perfect representation of the maille and padding. Is the maille on these stitched to the padding, or are they independent of each other?
Great work as always, AsherNitin!

This isn't very visible from the preview, but along the lower border of the aventail, the mail is visibly stitched to the padding. Every 5th or 6th ring is attached to the liner by a single stitch. I've placed the stitches individually, over and under the rings as required.
