The American Civil War Mod: Revived is a single player mod for Mount and Blade: Warband that is built upon an old civil war mod that ceased development, that was called, "A House Divided". Thanks to the help from the amazing community here, I have been able to include some new features in the mod, like advanced formations and fire orders, and successfully address many of the major bugs that came with the first release. Many new features have since been added, and you can read more about them here, on the mod page. A great deal of thanks is due to all the guys who contributed their work in the past, as well as those who have graciously provided their assistance since the mod has come back to active development; Matsuri5, Helm8000, Эльдар, Kawooz_Mirza, pizzaman6, UwU_XD, the Blood and Iron team, Tasmit, Hinkel, Poomtang, Azrooh, Tessius, Durnius, Gabrilduro, and Dellivils being just some of those who've made this possible.

Hello everyone, as you may be aware already, a new patch for the mod is coming soon, and I will also writing an article to go with it that will discuss the future of the mod in more detail. In preparation for that, I would like to open a discussion on the subject of open sourcing the mod. I want to know what the community at large thinks about open sourcing the project. If it's a good idea for this project in particular, what are the pros and cons, and what are some past examples we can look to. I know catman1900 said the last days mod is a good example, and I'd like to know how it all worked out in practice.

Im not good at explaining things due to my limited knowledge and my grammar. So let's say if you are to open source your mod, people who have the ability to mod can make changes on your mod to their liking that might interest the community and maybe you, then you can decide wether to implement that certain someone's addition to your mod with his/her help officialy to make his/her's work to be published by you officialy. And IF EVER you will abandon your mod for some reasons, they can pickup where you left off to continue your work which you authorized. So in short let's say part of Open Sourcing is a "partnership" between the community and you the developer.

If Open Sourced, someone might use your assets without giving proper credits or enough permission to change/modify your work to their own interest and then release it to the public which is a big deal for the Developers.

That's all can say for now, there might be a misleading information or misunderstanding from what i have typed but if someone who read this and experienced about things like this, please correct me to help King85 here. Thanks.

You wrote a very good explanation, and your grammar is fine, no worries. I hope other members of the community will give their two cents as well so I can have a good range of opinions, and see where everybody's thoughts are on the subject. Most likely I will just stick to my current plan and release the patch, and from there I will leave open the discussion and the possibility of open sourcing the mod. For the time being, I would like to keep things as organized and cohesive as possible, so it is easy for me and for other people who follow the mod to keep track of everything. As time goes on, and the mod progresses, I will see if open sourcing is a good path forward for the mod's development. And like you said, if for some reason in the future I can't continue the mod, I have no intention of letting it cease development on my account, so I would definitely open source it in that case.
