I was born and grew up in Bali so I was well versed in Balinese society. Hinduism is the majority of our belief so I was learned about them since young. But when I grew up I started to notice that our Hinduism is quite different from Hinduism in India. Many additions only exist in Balinese Hindu that are more local. I suspect that because we are not a direct descendant of Indians this is because the spread of belief happens not through violence or conquer but from the locals that willingly convert themselves. Thus the local belief blends in with Hinduism. This local belief and culture that I'm interested in to make a game of.
So here's the synopsis :
The world is at its last cycle, the Kaliyuga. The empire tasked the immortal red assassin to capture the existence that was rumored to be tied to the cycle. Bearing the symbol of death, the red assassin steps onto the land of god only to learn about the truth of the cycle, life, and belonging.
This is rangda known as the symbol of evil. She has an origin story of a widow with a daughter who got ostracized by the village because of the widow's dark magic practice that pushed her to the edge and transformed her into rangda bringing calamity. The first step that I want to achieve in this project is to make a demo and for this demo plan on adapting rangda's story.
