Graphite Knight (name is a work in progress) is a hand-drawn, 2D platformer with melee combat. It is still in early development, and I am excited to see what it turns into.

Hi again, sorry for taking so long on this devlog. Over the last few weeks, I have made some substantial progress on Grapite Knight. Here is everything that I have worked on:

Combat: I made the combat feel a little nicer by slowing down the game for short moment after you land a hit. The screen now flashes red when the player is injured by the enemy, which makes it easier to tell what is happening. I also added some hit particles (they are just placeholders, and don't look too great right now). On top of that, I made it so that you can't move or turn while you are still in the attack state. The enemies were also updated. They now only follow you when you are close by, and they have a better new health indicator.

Character Art: I drew a simplified version of the placeholder character on some paper, but have yet to incorporate it into the game because it has proven difficult to rig. I will try to rig it soon so that I can start making some better player animations.

Levels: I have decided on my approach to creating hand-drawn levels for the game. I will draw chunks of each level, and piece them together in the game engine. Here is an example of one of those terrain chunks (it is currently flipped on its side):

Controller Support: I have made sure that the whole game supports controllers.

Exploration: I finished the basic mechanics of the exploration area. The player can now enter levels through specific points of interest.
