On a serious note.

EAW Remake will be having a new Dev Build Release for the public over on Discord. It will be highly unfinished, lots of half-done content, missing lots of planned stuff for the future, and just generally not a full mod and should not be considered the true vision of what EAW Remake is.

The only reason this is happening is because there's recently been alot of bug fixes that help with the crashes and sudden performance issues so to throw away the issues of the Lite 1.3 Release, we are releasing a Public Developer's Build of the mod.

The reason for Discord is that ModDB is for the complete stages of the mod and not a in-dev version. So for this reason there will be a link posted on Discord in the #eaw-remake-updates channel or even a new one. Just ask after the end of the month if you dont see it in an obvious channel, someone will likely tell you where (Or this part of the article may be edited by then)

No Steam Workshop version as per usual. you can manually install same as always and having a manual install of the mod means ANYONE can play it and not just Steam Users. There's also Disk, GOG, and Origin users too and we're not going to force them to buy on steam to play a mod.

Everyone experiences issues differently it seems. Some have no issues, some have issues only sometimes, and others have them all the time.
The cause of this was various tiny errors that dont break the mod alone but over time together they build up until it does. For some people it takes less of these errors before crashing than others, for others the errors never crash. One thing done recently was using a special version of EAW that allows for reporting these errors and I've gone in and found every one that has popped up and corrected it.
There's no true guarantee that the mod will not crash (All programs crash from time to time that's just PC gaming) but there will be significantly less overall.

Though crashing when bringing in the SSDs (Or any large ship) could just be the game taking too long to load the models which can take up to a minute on slow computers and it will be frozen for that time until it's done loading.

So I'm new to the Steam way of playing, mostly picked it up because a lot of mods are going that route for updates. I have both GOG and Steam installed, and I was wondering how would you manually instal this mod to the steam version? I don't see any MOD folders in the directory

You know what, I need to make the MODS folder. Duh

So is it literally just as simple as adding your files to the new folder in the steam version?

Yes you install mods on steam the same way as all other versions.
Only difference is GOG and Disk need the 4gb patch for the game while Steam has it automatically
